Something cool

So, there’s an age-long conversation about going to church I’ve been witness or exposed to.

My whole life I’ve known that it’s good to go to church. A few days ago Heather and I read why…

¹³ “If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath
and from doing as you please on my holy day,
if you call the Sabbath a delight
and the LORD’s holy day honorable,
and if you honor it by not going your own way
and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,

¹⁴ then you will find your joy in the LORD,
and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land
and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.”
The mouth of the LORD has spoken.

-Isaiah 58:13-14

There’s a lot of cool moments in there.
If I keep from doing as I please then…
I will find delight in the Lord.

So take that, eat it, digest it, and absorb it’s nutrients. One thing I’m working on is the 2nd and 3rd to last lines. What does He mean?

Don't Go To Your Church

Don’t go to your church if one of these three things are present:

- The sermons don’t include scripture. What MUST be in it is sound “walking through the text” understanding the authorial intent of the author and making it applicable to the people. Expositional proclamation of the Biblical Text

-They preach that they are the messenger. Wrong! Christ is the messenger. Don’t be deceived by preachers who put themselves where Christ should be.

-That YOU are the main agenda. Wrong again! Christ is the main agenda.

1 John 4

Test the Spirits

¹Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. ²This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, ³but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

⁴You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. ⁵They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. ⁶We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.

Preach the Word

¹ I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus,who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: ²preach the word; be ready in season and out of season;reprove, rebuke, andexhort, with complete patience and teaching. ³For the time is coming when people will not enduresound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, ⁴andwill turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. ⁵As for you,always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist,fulfill your ministry.
