We interrupt your regularly scheduled “Story of Tenth Avenue North” programming to announce that Tenth Avenue North received GMA Dove Award nominations in two huge categories yesterday: Song of the Year (“By Your Side”) and Group of the Year.
A BIG thanks to all who support this band and their ministry. Last year, they couldn’t have won New Artist of the Year without you and the same goes for this year’s nominations! Feel free to leave your congratulatory messages for the band.
Note: Mike also received a nomination in the Special Event Album of the Year category for his work on Glory Revealed II: The Word of God in Worship.

Well hello everyone. So I am sitting on the bus in Oklahoma City waiting for an available shower to cleanse myself of all the dirty road scum you aquire and I thought to myself… “self, let’s let everyone know how the tour is going.” So here I am ready to give you the inside and in between on the Inside and In Between Tour. I must say, BRAVO. We have really been blown away by how many of you really like us. The first 3 shows have been sold out and more people have came than we ever would have thought. And to top that off, so far we have had over 50 compassion children sponsored. That’s exciting! We really have had an awesome time with Brenton and Audrey. It just seems to be a great group of people doing this together. We just ask that you continue to pray for us and the tour. It is very easy for people to put us up on some pedestal as if we are more important than others. On of our goals on this tour is break that illusion and to really just have a conversation about the gospel with you… from one screwed up person to another. We pray that God is using us in that way. Thanks again for your support and be looking out for some video content. It’s coming soon I promise.

I still don’t know that I believe it…. but apparently there is a dove award with our name on it. I just wanted to say thanks so much to you guys who voted for us. I know, I know, every winner says it… but when it happens, there’s not much more to it than… “We are so humbled” and “It is such an honor.” But to be honest, I’m left feeling undeserving. All we’ve been doing is singing and playing about the beauty of truth and our struggle to understand it, and for some reason we were given an award. That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate it.. I’m just, ya know… humbled. So thanks again.
In light of this, however, I’m just made more appreciative of other artists. Those that were nominated, like Francesca Battistelli and her ridiculously powerful voice. Remedy drive and their stage presence, which found me ducking and cringing and making oo and ahh sounds and almost calling the paramedics (for myself) while standing next to them at the doves. People like David Wilcox and Shane and Shane whose lyrics have helped shape my desire for truth. And newer, under appreciated artists that blow my mind like our buddy/hero Audrey Assad (to check her out, click here). Friends that write and play unique, beautiful melodies, with a sound that I wish I could hear in the everyday… ”The Champion and His Burning Flame”. Do yourself a favor and check these people out.
Oh yeah… and thanks again. A lot. a lot alot. I mean…. like, a lot. A whole lot.
